Pancake mix is the star ingredient and makes the best crepes. The 4 ingredients blend easily and then pour into a pan to create a delicious crepe. Crepes always seem fancy to me, but these are so easy to make that I occasionally make them before the kids head off to school.

How to Make Crepes with Pancake Mix

Step 1 – In a blender, combine all the ingredients until smooth.  Let the mixture sit for at least 10 minutes to settle and refrigerate until ready to use.

Step 2 – Pour approximately ¼ cup batter into the center of the pan in a circular motion.

Step 3 – Cook over medium-low heat.  Turn the pan while cooking from side to side to form an even circle.

Step 4 – Cook for 1 minute on each side until lightly browned. 

  • Step 5 – Remove from the pan.  Continue this process until all the batter is used. 
  • Step 6 – Serve with your favorite toppings and enjoy!

  • Make Ahead – You can easily make the crepe batter ahead of time and keep in the fridge. Which will save you time in the morning.
  • Rest Batter – Before cooking the batter, make sure to let it rest. This helps to create a thin and fluffy crepe.
  • Tilt Pan – To spread the crepe batter completely on the bottom of the pan, you may need to tilt the pan.
  • Cooking Crepe – Cook the crepe on low heat to prevent from burning.
  • Stacking Crepe – If preparing the crepe in batches we recommend separating the crepes with parchment paper to stack. This helps to prevent them from stacking.

You will know when the crepe is ready to flip when the sides start to pull from the sides. Cooking time will vary but it only takes a few minutes on each side to cook the crepe.

Can I Still Make Crepe Without Pancake Mix?

Yes, you can combine the dry ingredients which includes 1 cup of flour, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and ¼ teaspoon of salt. Then combine with the wet ingredients to create the best crepes.

How is Crepe Batter Different from Pancake Batter?

The difference is that crepe batter seems to be thin and smooth. Pancake seems to be lumpy and thicker. Crepes will cook faster because they are thinner.

Storing and Reheating Instructions

  • Storing – Refrigerate any leftovers for up to 5 days in an airtight container.
  • Freezing – Crepes can be placed in a freezer safe container. Make sure they have cooled to room temperature. We recommend to place the crepes on a baking sheet to flash freeze for about 20 minutes. If stored properly the crepes will last about 3 months.
  • Thawing and Reheating – If your crepes are frozen, place on a microwave safe plate and reheat in 30 second intervals. You may need to flip to ensure heated thoroughly.
