Why We Love Blueberry Cobbler

We love making Blueberry Cobbler because it is made with pantry ingredients and the prep time is minimum. You will love the homemade golden brown biscuit topping with the blueberry sauce.

If you pickup fresh blueberries from your local farmer’s market, make this Blueberry Cobbler. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a tasty treat that everyone will love.

Ingredients

Ingredients - Blueberries, sugar, lemon juice, lemon zest, cinnamon, butter, flour, baking powder, salt, milk, vanilla extract
  • Blueberries – You can use fresh or frozen blueberries. Feel free to add other types of berries such as blackberries, strawberries or raspberries
  • Granulated Sugar – We used white sugar but you can use a sweetener of your choice
  • Lemon Juice and Lemon Zest – Helps boost the flavor
  • Ground Cinnamon – Add warm flavors to the cobbler
  • Butter – We used unsalted butter
  • All Purpose Flour – Helps to create a delicious topping for the cobbler
  • Milk – We used whole milk but you can also use buttermilk

How to Make Blueberry Cobbler

  • Step 1 – Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2 – Slice the butter into pieces and place in the bottom of a 9X13 baking pan. Then place the entire pan in the oven and allow the butter to melt.

Step 3 – In a large bowl, sti together the blueberries, sugar, lemon juice, lemon zest and cinnamon to cover the blueberries in the mixture.

Step 4 – Pour the blueberry mixture over the melted butter. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon for even more flavor.

Step 5 – In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt for the batter. Stir in the milk into the dry ingredients until just combined and then stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 6 – Drizzle the batter over the top of the blueberries in the baking dish.

Step 7 – Bake for 25-30 minutes until the batter is cooked through and the top is lightly golden brown. 

  • Step 8 – Remove from the oven and let the cobbler sit for 5-10 minutes on a wire rack and then it’s ready to serve warm topped with ice cream and enjoy! Store leftovers in the fridge.

Recipe Tips

  • Baking Cobbler – Make sure that the dough is done before removing the cobbler from the oven. The center of the dough should be set and not wet looking.  The blueberries around the outside will be bubbly. Cooking time will vary as it could take 35-40 minutes to bake.
  • Rest Cobbler – After baking the cobbler, make sure to allow it to rest for about 5 minutes before serving.
  • Sweetness – If you prefer a sweeter cobbler, you can always add in another tablespoon or two of sugar.
  • Baking Pan – We used a 9×13 baking dish for the perfect cobbler. If you prefer a thicker cobbler you can make in 8×8 baking dish or a little larger.

Can I Use Frozen Blueberries in this Cobbler Recipe?

Yes, you can make this blueberry cobbler with frozen blueberries or fresh blueberries. If you use frozen blueberries there is no need to thaw before adding to the baking dish. The texture of the blueberry mixture maybe a little more juicy if using frozen.

How to Store Leftover Blueberry Cobbler

Store any leftover cobbler in an airtight container for up to 1 week in the refrigerator. Make sure it has cooled to room temperature before storing.

How to Reheat Cobbler
